I’m getting back into hunting after many years. A compound bow just was not going to work for me anymore so I decided to go with a crossbow. This crossbow had what I wanted at a great price point. The assembly was straight forward and I was able to sight it in relatively quickly. I have no plans to take a shot over 20 yds so that’s where I set it. I paired the headhunter arrow with the game crusher broad head and surprisingly the target impact was so close to the field point impact, it needed no adjustment. 3rd time out, I took a 7 point under ten yards from my ground blind. He Mule kicked, ran, and crashed about 20 yds away. You could say that I am satisfied with this crossbow.
Love this crossbow fast accurate and puts a punch on the deer didn't go more than 10 yards
The hypertac 420 is totally unbelievable. First off it was such a user-friendly website. Totally fast shipping. The i had questions...in which i received a phone call from barnett....who was so knowledgeable about all my questions. When I built the 420 instructions were super easy. First shot blew my mind. I would never have guessed it was as powerful as it was. (Bolts went so deep into the high speed target were I could not see it. Had to pull the bolts the rest of the way through.) Total smooth action from trigger pull to the release of the bolt. Scope on the 420 is perfect. Easiest instructions to sight the scope on. The 420 comes completely ready with everything you need to be ready for the hunt. So..I Just want to say the Barnett Hypertac 420 is definitely the baddest crossbow out there. Don't believe me....get one for yourself....you will agree... I will bet on it.
Great quality at a great price. Easy to sight in and extremely effective on whitetail. Managed a mature 9 pt buck and doe last season and zipped clean through both. Absolutely nothing bad to say and extremely happy with my purchase!
Super happy with you Guys and Gals at Barnett, shipping was very reasonable and FAST,
I added a scope and used some Tygon fuel line for the two spare bolts,

My Wildcat CRX is busting dime size groupings ngs at 20 yards with the standard 3 red dot sight.
The reason for 4 stars is the horrible quiver and quiver rail connector. It shakes and fits loose. And flexes a lot when withdraeing a bolt.
i bought a Bohning crossbow quiver top mount and a Truglo tuff loC 4 bolt quiver.
Now the lock up is rock solid and I don't have to fear the Bohning top mount breaking or coming loose due to the solid aluminum construction.
For $239 retail. Barnett should have used a metal mount or something better than the included plastic quiver mount.
Which does not lock down good on the picstinny rails.
If you buy this crossbow. Do yourself a favor and get a more solid quiver mount.
Other than the quiver issues. This is a pretty solid recurve crossbow. And unlike Excalibur.
Light weight and far better balanced. Which is ideal for stslking or stand up shooting eith no crossbow rest.
One more thing. It is best to shoot 425 to 450 grain bolts. To extend limb and string life.
What 20 to 20 fps you lose you will make up for in penetration and increased foot pounds of energy.
Barnett tests their fps with 380 grains. Which I find a bit too light and unrealistic for both limb life and real world use.
I hope Barnett will start testing with 400 grain minimum bolts.
I recently purchased this Xbow through the trade in program. The process was quick and easy. I received the bow within days! The set up was even easier. I was completed and ready to hunt within 30 minutes. 10 bolts inside 2” circle at 40 yds no problem. Thank you Barnett for always keeping me in the woods.
i am a compound bow hunter but decided to try a crossbow after my daughter bought a barnett last year. i have not shot a deer with it yet, but i am happy with the bow. its very fast and very accurate. it performs as well as more expensive crossbows. very happy with my purchase.

About one week into hunting and noticed the quiver was loose (slide broke). I used the other side and a few days later I noticed the same issue (other slide broke). Now I’m having a hard time finding a replacement or even a comparison to use. Can anyone please give feedback.
