With a 350 FPS rating, the Recruit XP, sends arrows at speeds that rival the best top of the line vertical bows in a package that is easy to be pinpoint accurate with. The light 150 lb. draw weight is reduced by half when cocking with the included rope cocking device making this bow possibly the easiest to draw crossbow on the market. The lighter draw weight aids in the longevity of the Recruit XP making it a workhorse for countless shots. If you’re looking for your first crossbow or your last crossbow, look no further than the Recruit XP. It’s the perfect crossbow for hunting, shooting, and training for all ages and abilities. Topped off with an illuminated red/green red dot optic.
FREE $200 CUSTOM TRIGGER UPGRADE - INCLUDED
The Frictionless Release Technology™ creates a free-floating roller between the sear and the trigger – offering a smoother, lighter trigger unlike anything else on the market. Nock sensors and anti-dry fire give you peace of mind for double the safety, and a three-pound, zero-creep release gives you confidence to make the shot. Once you go TriggerTech, you’ll never go back.

Good delivery and good delivery and good product
Got this crossbow to try this past year after I injured my shoulder and couldn't use my bow anymore. I was pleasantly surprised how light and easy the crossbow was to use. Only issue I had was the sight wouldn't stay zeroed but still got the job done.
Just purchased. Looking forward to my first harvest using it.

Shoots accurate at 40 yards. Didn't need to adjust scope out of the box.
Haven't tried shooting any further than that.
Keep string well waxed and it will last a long time.
I love my Barnett Wildcat CRX. I have only shot it to uncock it but it shoots really good for that.
I love it. I really do. The only thing I don't love about it. THE BOLTS... Why are they so fragile. I mean the crossbow is pretty sweet. The bolts are kinda BS. Plus being around $2.00 a piece? It can be expensive if you miss. Since they're green and you know? So's the grass. Thus becoming hard to spot. However 5 stars on the crossbow for sure.
I've had my HyperTac420 for several years now. It's a fun bow to shoot, and I love how it feels overall. Looking through the reviews, it seems like they had a bad batch of limbs come through with what others have reported - but I haven't experienced that with mine.
The good: Bow is relatively fast, feels great to shoot, and is accurate in repeating shots once it's dialed in.
The bad: Proprietary arrows, which cost a bunch. The aluminum nocks on the arrows can start to bend/compress because of the downward force of the string when shooting. If you are a practice shooter, I get about 20-25 shots out of a nock before it's time to replace it. That's annoying, but nocks aren't readily/easily available, or cheap.
I liken this bow to a lower end sports car. There's a lot to like about it, but there are some weird quirks that accompany ownership.
Also, charging $30 per arrow for lighted nocks in the Hyper series is a sin. Do better, Barnett.
They are simple to turn on and off and i like them and i cant wait to use them in the field.
I recently received my Barnett tee shirt and i love it great quality.
I bought this crossbow knowing I would love it. I have unboxed the crossbow and put it all together. Took it out and sent some bolts down range. Wow, 410 fps is fast, and QUIET. This is my 4th crossbow from Barnett.
I just purchased my first Barnett crossbow the Alpha 410 and purchased headhunter 20 arrows and I love how it shoots and feels its a tackdriver its a great bow for the money and I can't wait for Vermont archery season to start.
I purchased my STR in March 2024 and I’ve taken 2 deer the last 2 seasons with it. It hits in target every time. Small groupings out to 50 yards at the home range with the stock scope. In 2025 I did my first trip up north to Illinois with it and it performed as expected even in extreme cold and crawling through high grass fields in some spot-stalk. Nailed an old timer on day 5. I love the STR and look forward to my son using it eventually also.
