My husband and I wanted to share a picture of our daughter’s first big game animal. Sarah Shaffer who is only 7 years old, took this beautiful Black Bear in June of 2008, In Wasilla Alaska. She harvested this Bear with a Barnett Crossbow at less then 20 yards. Sarah made a perfect shot. The bear was down in seconds – only traveling 25 yards. The bear taped out at 5 foot 8 inches and was about 175-200 pounds. Sarah was so calm as if she had been hunting for years. She now wants to get a wolf. I just wanted everyone to see my nephew Zach Barker's first crossbow kill. Zach turned eight this past July and my parents bought him a Barnett Panzer V crossbow. After sighting it in, Zach picked up on it real fast and was able to make shot after shot into the kill zone of a 3-d target. On November the 4th he was hunting with his father when this nice deer steped out in front of him. Zach knew just what to do, and made a perfect shot. Zach is quite the accomplished hunter and has now taken five deer in the last two years, including his first buck this year.
